Privacy Statement

 

I know that privacy and security is a major concern and am 100% committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of both my current and any prospective students to my classes and website.  In particular, I want you to know that I have absolutely no interest in selling, renting or trading email lists with other companies or businesses for marketing or any other purposes.  I am totally against this kind of thing!!  I am a yoga teacher who is only interested in teaching my practice and passing on what I learn to help people feel more comfortable in their bodies and minds. The following adheres to guidance set out by EU GDPR


Your information When you request information about my classes or book a class I ask for data such as your name, e-mail address, contact number(s). I keep a record of this information for tax purposes and for ensuring I fulfil my contract with you. I will not share it with anybody - it is stored on relevant systems such as cloud systems, Mailchimp, Squarespace (website design) and accounting systems which are GDPR compliant. If I am required by law to share any information, I will check with you first to ensure you are happy for that to happen. An example of this would be if HMRC requested an audit. I store sensitive data for as long as services are in progress and students remain active clients plus 6 months. Email addresses provided via Mailchimp are stored until consent is withdrawn, re-consent will be requested every 2 years. Information required for tax and legal requirements are held for 7 years as a requirement by law. I keep a record of class registration, so I can help to deal with any enquiries or problems you may have in the future. I keep a record of any e-mail communication you send us for 1 year, so I can track any problems or concerns you’ve had.

Please do not supply any other person’s personal data to me, unless required by law or you have their explicit consent to do so.

How I use your personal data All personal information gathered either in person, via email or website is used to operate and improve my offerings to you. I am dedicated to using your personal data only for: Processing my offerings correctly - Technical management of my website - Reviewing systems - Providing you with information about the classes I teach, offers and news.

Legal Basis for Processing Data My lawful basis for processing data are: Consent (to signing up for my newsletter) - Legal Obligation (tax purposes) - Contract (students booking classes)

Requesting Your Information If you would like to review the data you have provided to me because you think it might be incorrect, and/or you would like it erased from my records, please email me. You have the right under GDPR to be forgotten, to withdraw your consent, to change information I have. I am very happy to comply with this in accordance with the law.

How we protect data The Internet is not a 100% secure platform for communication so I cannot guarantee the security of any data you send to me (or me to you) via the Internet. I am not responsible for any damages which you, or others, may suffer as a result of the loss of confidentiality of such information. However, I promise to take every precaution to safeguard your information. All personal data stored by me is kept on a server in a secure environment. The computer on which work is conducted on is password protected, data held in the cloud is password protected. The risks of a breach are minimal and security systems are always up to date. Breaches will be identified, reported, managed, and resolved according to the ICO guidelines.

How you can help me protect your data Whenever you willingly divulge personal data online in non-protected situations (on message forums, through email, or in chat spaces) that data can be collected and used by others. In short, if you post personal data online that is accessible to the public, you may receive unsolicited communications from other parties in return. Also, closing your browser window when you have finished using the computer ensures others cannot access your personal data and communications. If you share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place, I cannot confirm or warrant the security of any data you communicate to me, and therefore you do so at your own risk. Once I receive your communication, I will make my best effort to ensure its securely on my system.
